ACORN’s National Clean Up Day: About Clean Up Day

Residents in neighborhoods across the nation are actively taking back their neighborhoods, reclaiming empty lots, cleaning up sidewalks, and restoring hope to their communities. ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is launching the fifth annual ACORN National Clean Up Day in a nationwide effort to improve our communities and restore the beauty of our neighborhoods.

On Saturday June 16th, 2007, Clean-Up Day will bring the entire community together to work on pressing problems, and create partnerships that will enable long-lasting solutions. Taking action, ACORN members in hundreds of neighborhoods will come together to put the spotlight on cleanliness and safety.

History:

In the past six years, ACORN members have cleaned up trash-strewn lots and alleys, raked out gutters, picked up parks, and planted flowers and shrubs, while successfully involving local officials and businesses in long-term solutions. We are not just making our neighborhoods nicer to look at and easier to walk in, we are taking back our communities.

Civic-minded businesses are invited to become partners in ACORN’s National Clean Up Day. We have several levels of support available.
